It snowed last night. Not a blizzard with feet of snow. No electricity going down or water lines freezing. Just snow. And very very cold today. Ethan first day back to school after Christmas Break was yesterday. And today he got his wish...SNOW DAY!
To be honest, I'm kind of glad :)
I set up a blog to chronicle our daily family life. But I wanted something more private just for the kiddos. This is it. This is for my goodness, my lifesaver, my miracle.

January 1, 2014
I am going to be overly ambitious and try to capture something for each day of the new year for each boy. My perspective on the little things in his life and how they fit in with the big picture of our life as a family.
Ethan: He and Jason stayed up on New Year's Eve to ring in 2014. I didn't make it. I should have stayed up, but I didn't. So he slept in a little.
Carter came over to play for a little while in the afternoon. Xbox of course. BUt we insisted they play outside too. It was beautifully sunny and in the 40s I think. Their last hurrah (low key as it was) before school starts back tomorrow. They are good friends; I hope they stay that way.
We talked a little about his 11th birthday party. We think we're going to copy last year's gig - party at Quantum with Nerf battles and a sleepover. We are thinking Carter, Brice, Cole, Jacob, and maybe Andrew.
Zane: Zane wanted a big breakfast to start off hte New Year. Pancakes, hash browns, sausage, and eggs. He was starvvvving 10 minutes before everything was finished, so he ate very little of the big breakfast.
Finally he got to go outside and ride on his tractor with a digger that Santa brought him. This boy has so much energy. If he doesn't use it, whining ensues. I know it's driven Jason (who has played stay-at-home dad this week) crazy. Ethan too. It's just Zane; he wears his heart on his sleeve.
Zane, Nash and I also packed up the daycare teachers' gifts. Chocolate, handmade candy cane sugar scrub, dinosaur or dog jewelry dishes we painted, and special jewelry for each teacher. (Gift cards and candles too.) He loves DOING and GIVING. Like me :)
At bedtime, he kept fighting sleep because a show on TV kept his attention. I can't for the life of me think of what the show was though. Drat.
Nash: Potty training is going to kill me. He was so interested this morning. He actually peed a little in the potty the night before. Is this it? Finally? Not on January 1st. Nope. We tried the Pull-Ups all day. This just isn't clicking for him.
Jason took the boys outside; he wan't interested until the very end. He played with me inside. He loves being a little brother, but he's also starting to love being the only one with Mom or Dad too. There was an Avatar marathon on TV today; we watched a few episodes. I still haven't gotten to watch the final three episodes or so.
He was so funny at bedtime. He was sitting on my lap, eating an apple. He literally fell asleep eating that apple about halfway through. The other two boys never did that; he fights and fights sleep till the bitter end. Then he's out. Like a light.
